Magnit Football club’s awesome run of the Student league season continued on Monday as they demolished the Zambia Technical Football Club 1-6 to complete the game on the aggregate 4-9. Despite the Technical team looking good with a strong midfield presence, the team seemed disoriented and unable to find the back of the net even though, in the last match they managed to equalize in the dying minutes.
It was clear Magnit has learnt their lessons from the previous match and looked ready to get an advantage over their bitter opponents, as they channeled almost half their attacks down their wings of the pitch. While the technical team focused on the Centre and high balls that seemed to disadvantage the average height of Magnit.
Despite the tactical differences between the sides, neither was able to gain significant advantage in the first half with Magnit leading to a goal to nil. With both teams unable to maintain possession, due to similarities in attack and defence, made the first half hard to predict the end score of the match.
Furthermore, in the second half, the Technical team had an effective defensive strategy, but the home side were also more effective in getting the ball into more effective shooting areas which initially led to them out shorting their opponents ten to three, with extra efforts on target. As the statistics above would suggest, Magnit had an upper hand upon the match and a win for them was not a surprise.
In conclusion, as the student League season, may soon be ending, Magnit are in a better place to be crowned as the champions of this year and indeed, they are going to mak history as the first student team to win both the league and the student tournament which they won three weeks ago when they beat Congo in the finals (written by Musanda Sishumba).
